Chumby PhotoFrame 2Kurt on Sun, 2008-12-28 03:11.
I’ve hacked up the Chumby PhotoFrame source from http://www.discarded-ideas.org/chumby/photoframe by Wansti. http://github.com/kstephens/chumby_photoframe/tree/master Fixed a few bugs and created a USB image to enable http://localhost/image/ browsing on the Chumby. I’m working on an CGI to allow uploading of images directly to the Chumby. Please give me feedback. Alpha USB image is availableSubmitted by Kurt on Sun, 2008-12-28 07:39.

Hi, You wrote: “I’m working on an CGI to allow uploading of images directly to the Chumby.” Do you mean that you could use this CGI to allow a slideshow directly from a USB device? Do I understand you correctly? Could the CGI support simultaneous sound? Could the CGI be modified to feed from a website? The only real problem I have with the Chumby is that to serve these flash applications, you need to use their website, and put up with their commercials. It seems to me like that’s the ball and chain. I wonder every day if the chain can be severed, but I’m not nearly savvy enough to implement what I can imagine. The Chumby would be quite the machine if it could be modified to serve content and applications from a private website. I’d enjoy hearing your thoughts on that. Tx, George » reply
